Peggy A. Stanfield, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born April 23, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, to Morgan and Lillian Macatee English. She and Bill Stanfield were married July 17, 1954, in Memphis, Tenn.
Stanfield was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was manager of the gift shop at Southeast Hospital more than 20 years.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. During her husband's military service in Europe and Japan, she traveled extensively in those parts of the world.
Survivors include her mother, Lillian English of Gordonville; her husband, Bill Stanfield of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Kevin (Susan) Stanfield and Scott Stanfield of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Joe English of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Cortney and Zach Stanfield of Cape Girardeau, Audrey Stanfield of New York, N.Y., and Michelle Stanfield of Chapel Hill, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her father, Morgan English.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
