Margarette "Peggy" Nelson, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 17, 1927, in St. Louis, daughter of Ira William and Margarette Wolf Fischer.
Nelson was a graduate of Webster Groves High School and attended DePauw University.
She lived in St. Louis most of her life, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1965.
Nelson was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, served on several committees and at times had served on the Episcopal Churchwomen's Board of the Diocese of Missouri. She was a longtime member of Cape Girardeau County Republican Committee, and an American Red Cross volunteer. Her Red Cross activities included several disaster relief missions.
Survivors include two sons, David Nelson of Atlanta, Ga., Peter Nelson of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Martin of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Dr. George Fischer of Mankato, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
There is no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Truelove officiating.
