Peggy Jean Lape, 83, daughter of the late Dick and Mary Buell Davis, was born Oct. 29, 1939, in Panola County, Mississippi, and gained her wings Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, at her home in Scott City, surrounded by family.
Aside from her family, her passions in life were sewing, painting and spending time with close friends. She touched many lives with her kind-hearted giving and talents.
On Aug. 24, 1957, she married Norman Eftink in Oran, Missouri. He preceded her in death. On Oct. 10, 1998, she married Cecil Lape in Chaffee, Missouri. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 2004.
Peggy is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Tim) Simmons of Kelso, Missouri; two sons, Mike (Beth) Eftink of Jackson and Jeff Eftink; brother, Bill (Brenda) Davis of Florida; two sisters, Laverne "Tootsie" (Gene) Warren of Morley, Missouri, and Janice (Rich) Eller of Illinois; four grandchildren, Lachelle (Jason West) Bucher, Afton (Sarah Beussink) Eftink, Chase Simmons and Kaden (Alyssa) Eftink; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Sophie, Preston, Paislee, Ryan, Taylor, Maddy, Cayden, Lane and Reagan.
Apart from her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Jim and Glenn Davis; and three sisters, Mary Lou Penhale, Sue Hagen and Jane Swain.
A celebration of life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home, with Brother Kenneth Shoemaker officiating.
