Peggy Lea Childers, 63, of Jackson died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at her home. She was born June 8, 1950, in Cape Girardeau to Amos Leonard and Elodie Grace McLane Reid. She married John W. Childers on Feb. 5, 1977. Peggy was a 1968 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in general studies. ...

Peggy Lea Childers, 63, of Jackson died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at her home.

She was born June 8, 1950, in Cape Girardeau to Amos Leonard and Elodie Grace McLane Reid. She married John W. Childers on Feb. 5, 1977.

Peggy was a 1968 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in general studies. She was a member of Millersville Baptist Church in Millersville, Mo. She worked in sales for KAL Vitamins in Hollywood, Fla., more than 20 years. She then worked for the Jackson license bureau and the SEMO Food Bank in Cape Girardeau, retiring in 2010.

Peggy is survived by her husband, John Childers of Jackson; five brothers, William R. Reid of St. Charles, Mo., John K. (Elaine) Reid of Evansville, Ind., Amos L. (Shelba) Reid of Pocahontas, Mo., Donald G. (Patricia) Reid of Cuba, Ill., and James A. (Sandy) Reid of Fort Branch, Ind.; and two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) McCullough of Medora, Ill., and Betty (Marv) Followell of Matawan, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Millersville Baptist Church.
