CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Pearl Mae Whitney, 64, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Sikeston. She was born April 9, 1941, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of the late Walter and Susie Mix Whitney. Whitney was a resident of Missouri since 1946. CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Pearl Mae Whitney, 64, of Charleston, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Sikeston.

She was born April 9, 1941, in Clarksdale, Miss., daughter of the late Walter and Susie Mix Whitney.

Whitney was a resident of Missouri since 1946. She was a member of the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Wyatt, Mo.

Survivors include three sons, Narvis Whitney of Charleston, Fred Whitney of Atlanta, Ga., and Michael Whitney of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Bobbie Wiggins and Ida Whitney of Charleston, Melisa Whitney of Essex, Mo., and Ruby Johnson of Atlanta; four brothers, Tim Whitney of Charleston, Walter Whitney of Wyatt, James Whitney of Alva, Fla., and Henry Whitney of Fort Meyers, Fla.; two sisters, Ruby Johnson and Erma Whitney of Charleston; 15 grandchildren;0 and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call Saturday at 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Opportunity Church of God in Christ in Charleston. Funeral will be at noon at the church. Elder Steve Betts will officiate, with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
