PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Pearl C. Petzoldt, 81, of Perryville died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 5, 1931, in New Wells, son of Anton H. and Edna Koenig Petzoldt. He and Dolores Popp were married April 23, 1955.

Pearl had been a self-employed farmer of grain and fish. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fellowship Club president, American Legion Post 133 and VFW Post 4282.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was artillery sergeant of the 78th AAA Gun Battalion.

Survivors include his wife; seven children, Kevin (Theresa) Petzoldt and Pam (Rodney) Manche of Perryville, Cindy (David) Huffman of Ottawa, Kan., Chari (Larry) Nolen, Kristie Petzoldt, Bonnie (Keith) Smith and Nathan Petzoldt, all of Perryville; three brothers, Tillmon Petzoldt of Perryville, Herbert Petzoldt of Altenburg, Mo., and Junior Petzoldt of Pocahontas; two sisters, Ardene Koenig of Arnold, Mo., and Shirleen Mueller of Perryville; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. A VFW wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by an American Legion wake at 7:15 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 133 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Program or Lutheran Family and Children's Services.
