NEW MADRID -- Funeral service for Pearl Nowell O'Connor of New Madrid will be held at 2 p.m. today at New Madrid Baptist Church. The Revs. Tom Bray and Jon Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.

Richards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

O'Connor, 96, died Monday, Jan. 27, 1997, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 13, 1900, in Dunklin County, daughter of N.J. and Elnora Huffman Wagster. She married Obed Nowell, who died May 20, 1944. She also married Ira Throop and Virgil O'Connor, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, N.J. Nowell of New Madrid; two daughters, Virginia Carpenter of New Madrid, Betty Thompson of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Pauline Jones of Kennett; and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons and four grandchildren.
