EAST PRAIRIE -- Pearl Marie Abner, 83, of East Prairie died Friday, Oct. 24, 1997, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 28, 1913, at Hornersville, daughter of Earl and Bertha Brotherton Simpkins.
She lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She operated a restaurant for years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie.
On May 16, 1932, she married Jake Abner. He died on Aug. 29, 1995.
Survivors include four sons, J.C. Abner of Kansas City, Steve Abner of St. Louis, Mickey Abner of East Prairie and Ronnie Abner of Brunswick, Ga.; a daughter, Georgia Marshall of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, J.T. and Earl D. Simpkins, both of East Prairie; two sisters, Louise Melton of San Diego, Calif., and Lorene Bailey of East Prairie; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons and three brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
Brother George White will officiate, with burial in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
