CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Pauline Christina Thurman, 83, of Charleston died Tuesday,. Aug. 1, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born Dec. 24, 1916, at Charleston, daughter of William Henry and Lucretia Christina Scheffer Hart. She and Elmer William "Mike" Thurman were married July 25, 1939. He died Oct. 19, 1968.
Thurman was a lifelong resident of Charleston, and attended O'Fallon Convent.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Legion of Mary, and a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, John Thurman of Charleston; six daughters, Mary Vinson, Rose McClendon, Paula Meeks, Martha Humphrey, Gail Faire and Maxine Geers, all of Charleston; three sisters, Pearl Newcomb of Pekin, Ill., Isabella Anderson of Granite City, Ill., Alvina Forrester of Cape Girardeau; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons and two daughters.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today. A prayer service will be held at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry's Church, with Msgr. Mike Swalina officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
