SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Pauline Catherine Schmitt, 92, of Scott City died Monday, June 3, 2002, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.
She was born Oct. 14, 1909, in St. Louis, daughter of Theodore and Helen Shoemaucher Leissing. She and John Schmitt were married July 4, 1931, in St. Louis. He died July 4, 1976.
Schmitt worked in housekeeping at the old St. Francis Hospital, and had been a newspaper dealer with the Southeast Missourian. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Council of Catholic Women, and Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 6407.
Survivors include a son, Donald Schmitt of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Delores Mantos of Scott City, Alis Schmitt of Anchorage, Alaska, Helen Drew of Carlinville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Parish prayers will be at 7.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. James Seyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
