Pauline McCullough, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 20, 2002, at the Lutheran Home. She was born June 8, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Linder Ray and Lettie Mae Poinsett McCullough. Pauline McCullough, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 20, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born June 8, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Linder Ray and Lettie Mae Poinsett McCullough.

Ms. McCullough was a graduate of Central High School. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone 15 years, and also worked at Ralph Edwards Sportswear.

She was a staff sergeant in the Women's Army Corps during World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.

Ms. McCullough was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service.

Survivors include an aunt, Millicent O'Connell of Cape Girardeau; three nephews, Tim Altenthal of St. Louis, Brad Altenthal of Cape Girardeau, Scott Altenthal of Marble Hill, Mo.; and two nieces, Martha Miller and Amy Randol of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, two sisters, and a nephew.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Janet Hopkins will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
