Paula Sue Bridges Smith, 71, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 12, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Paul and Lillian Brennan Bridges. She and Wayne Cassoutt were married in 1969. Four children were born to their union: twins, Connie and Bonnie, Tammie and Lancer. Connie and Bonnie passed away shortly after they were born, and Lancer was tragically killed in a bicycle accident in 2004.
In 1996, Paula married Ricky Smith. He passed away in 2018.
Paula was a 1967 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She was a beautician at Kathleen's Beauty Shop and later worked in food service at Grecian Steak House and Southeast Hospital.
She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Tammie (Steven) Walker of Greenville, Alabama, and several close cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by twin daughters, a son and her parents.
The Rev. Jeff Estes will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at Maple United Methodist Church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive in Cape Girardeau. Guests attending the ceremony are asked to please wear masks.
Paula will privately be laid to rest at Lorimier Cemetery at a later date.
Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Maple UMC Building Fund.
