ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Paula S. Smith, 58, of Altenburg passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Monticello House Nursing Home in Jackson. She was born March 5, 1958, in St. Louis, daughter of Robert P. and Shirley J. Miles Hunter. She and Daniel Smith were married July 28, 1979...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Paula S. Smith, 58, of Altenburg passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Monticello House Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was born March 5, 1958, in St. Louis, daughter of Robert P. and Shirley J. Miles Hunter. She and Daniel Smith were married July 28, 1979.

Paula was a graduate of Ritenour Senior High School in St. Louis. She earned an associate's degree in nursing. Paula worked as an licensed practical nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her mother, Shirley Hunter of St. Louis; her husband of nearly 37 years, Daniel Smith; six children, Matthew (Zoe) Smith, Scott (Leigh) Smith, Laura (Clifton) Gentry, Stephanie (Travis) Olsen, Andrew (Sarah) Smith and Aubrey Smith (fiance Kaleb Ward); and nine grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her father and three siblings.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church, with Bishop Jim Chesnick officiating.

Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in St. Charles, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
