SIKESTON -- Paul Samuel Tolbert, 56, of Sikeston died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born March 12, 1942, at Sikeston, son of Kelly and Bertha Pearl King Tolbert. He first married Sharon Ramsey. He later married Jane Crooks Aug. 23, 1997, in Wickliffe, Ky.

Tolbert was owner of Paul's Jewelry and Pawn. He was also a musician and gospel songwriter.

He was a member of Calvary Cornerstone Church in Advance. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Paul Tolbert Jr. of Nashville, Tenn., Mark Tolbert of Eldon, Daniel Tolbert of Lawrenceville, Ga., David Tolbert of Wyatt; two daughters, Lindley Tolbert-Muskewitz of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kelly Taylor of Sikeston.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Roy Alsup of Jackson, Tenn., Bill Alsup of Sikeston; stepmother, Ruby Tolbert of Morley; a brother, the Rev. John Tolbert of Advance; four sisters, Jean Stayton of Jackson, Tenn., Ann Tolbert and Grace McCann, both of Sikeston, Mary Banks of Crowder; 15 grandchildren; three stepbrothers; and a stepsister.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Tolbert officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
