PERRYVILLE -- J. Paul Simpson Sr., 81, of Perryville died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 31, 1917, at Chaffee, son of John L. and Eva Mae Lasley Simpson. He and Helen B. Leher were married Aug. 19, 1939.
Simpson was employed at Auto Tire and Parts Co. 30 years, first as a salesman and then as district sales manager. He served two terms as an alderman.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society in Perryville, and Knights of Columbus Council 1263. He was a former member and past president of the Holy Name Society in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Simpson of Perryville, Thomas Simpson of Addison, Ill.; a daughter, Barbara Brewer of Perryville; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a sister, and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30-9:30 a.m. The Knights of Columbus and parish wake will be at 7 tonight.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent's Church. The Revs. Kevin Fausz and Felipe Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
