Paul David Simpson, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 2, 1915, in Lawton, Okla., the son of Claude Redmon and Maggie Ora Covington Simpson. He and Jean Mae Martin Simpson were married Dec. 31, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Simpson served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was also part of the Rotary, Cape Chamber of Commerce, Cape Girardeau Country Club, past member of the Morning Optimist and Elks Lodge. Simpson attended Oklahoma State A&M University before joining the Navy. He owned and operated Simpson Buick in Cape Girardeau for nearly 20 years. He also worked at Buick corporate offices in St. Louis for more than 20 years, transferring to Cape Girardeau from St. Louis in 1964.

He is survived by his wife of Cape Girardeau; a son, Paul David Simpson Jr. of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Dr. Victoria Simpson and husband, Dr. Thomas Johnson, of Louisville, Colo.; three grandchildren, Ariel Rene Simpson-Johnson, Paul Andrew Simpson-Johnson and Kathrine Elizabeth Simpson-Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Claude Simpson; and two sisters, Verna Bucy and Ora Joiner.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau, with full military rites by Missouri Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Missouri State University School of Nursing.
