Paul Edward Oliver, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Oran, Missouri, to Lawrence and Alma Kilhafner Oliver. He and Eleanor Jo Kirn were married Aug. 31, 1954, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau.
Paul was a 1950 graduate of St. Mary's High School.
He served two years in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955 until being called home to assist his family after his father died in an automobile accident.
He worked as a truck driver for Day Transfer for 20 years and then for Ryder Logistics for 20 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1111.
Paul and Jo enjoyed traveling in their RV after retirement and being winter Texans. He was also a very avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Jo Oliver; son, Mark E. (Kandee) Oliver; and daughter, Karen (Chris) Rosenquist, all of Cape Girardeau; brother, Bill (Joann) Oliver of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Carolyn Ronza of Houston and Mary DeHaan of Memphis, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Luke Oliver, Chelsey (Chad) Becker, John (Kyndra) Oliver, Daniel (Katie) Oliver, Megan (Alex) Ressel, Matthew (Delia) Rosenquist, Elizabeth (Josh) Inman, Madeline (Christian) Job and Michael Rosenquist; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Oliver; and two brothers-in-law, James Ronza and Mike DeHaan.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. that evening, with Knights of Columbus rosary immediately following.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary's Cathedral or Notre Dame Regional High School.
