COBDEN, Ill. -- Paul Leroy Askew Jr., 56, of Cobden died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born June 12, 1941, at Effingham, son of Paul L. Askew Sr. and R. Ferns Myers Askew. He and Susan Breeden were married July 28, 1962, at Effingham.
Askew was vice president and construction manager for Garrison-Jones Architects in Carbondale. He was an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.
He was a retired captain on the Cobden Fire Department and formerly served on the Cobden School Board.
He was a member of Cobden Masonic Lodge 466 AF & AM; a member of Cobden Lions Club; a member of Fuzzy's Fine Swine Bar-B-Q Team; and a member of Anna Elks Lodge 1641.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jane Welborn of Harrisburg; his mother; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and daughter.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cobden Cemetery.
