Funeral service for Paul Joseph Berkbigler of Marysville, Wash., was held Saturday at Marysville Lutheran Brethren Church.
Berkbigler, 71, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1991.
He was born March 25, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, son of Herman W. and Nellie Swann Berkbigler. He graduated from Central High School in 1939, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. He was a pilot and radar flight instructor with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He and the former Mary Ellen Haw were married in 1943 at Maple Avenue United Methodist Church here. After the war they established Timberline Turkey Farm between Cape Girardeau and Jackson.
Eleven years later he became a field executive with Southeast Missouri Boy Scout Council. In July 1965 he transferred to the Evergreen Boy Scout Council in Everett, Wash.
Berkbigler served 19 years with the Boy Scouts. He retired in 1983 from Marvel Industries.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bruce Berkbigler of Seattle, Wash., Van Berkbigler of Marysville; a daughter, Linn Dappen, a missionary in Mexico, and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
