Paul H. Hanf, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1915, at Avert, Mo., son of Henry and Frances Schearf Hanf. He and Grace Fornkohl were married Jan. 14, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. She died July 6, 1987.
Hanf had been an engineer on the river, Railway Express, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1977. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Men's Club, VFW Post 3838, and Letter Carriers Association.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanie Brown and Sharon Davis of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Juanita Hill and Helen Lohmeier of Cape Girardeau, Frances Moss of Conroe, Texas, Berta Story of Trinity, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
