TILSIT -- Funeral service for Paul H. Ahrens of Tilsit will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dell Crockett will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Ahrens, 85 years old, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 1991, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 9, 1905, near Tilsit, son of Henry and Bertha Nagel Ahrens. He and the former Hulda Aufdenberg were married Sept. 5, 1926. She died June 25, 1984.
Ahrens farmed near Tilsit, retiring in 1981, and had also served as manager of Farm Bureau in Jackson many years. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Church, where he taught Sunday School, was organist 45 years, and recording secretary 29 years.
Survivors include a son, Leonard Ahrens of Jackson Route 2; two daughters, Luella Stadt of Jackson Route 4, Elvira Sebastian of Jackson Route 2; two sisters, Alma Lange of Jackson, Lydia Meier of Cape Girardeau; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, brother and great-granddaughter.
