Paul Ellis

DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Paul Ellis of Granite City, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Arvel Edmonds will officiate. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery at Bernie, Mo.

Ellis, 74, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Edwardsville, Ill.

He was born Aug. 25, 1927, at Risco, Mo., son of William and Pearl Dowdy Ellis. He and Louise Bennett were married Oct. 25, 1947, in Piggott, Ark.

Ellis was a retired pipe construction worker, and was employed many years by McMullen Excavating. He lived in Catron, Bernie and Dexter prior to moving to Granite City three years ago.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul Ellis of Granite City; three daughters, Paulette Green and Carol Ellis of Granite City, Joyce Cagle of Carriere, Miss.; three brothers, Edwin Ellis of Lilbourn, Mo., Dale Ellis of Dexter, Billy Ellis of Morehouse, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Baker of Dexter, Norma Hoskins of Sikeston, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
