Paul Abbott died peacefully in his sleep at Saint Francis Hospital on Dec. 1, 2020, following a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 20, 1955, to Jerry and Glenda Abbott. He married Jane, and son, Asa, on Oct. 7, 2000.
Paul graduated Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1973. He had several occupations, but the most consistent one was body work, which he first studied at The Academy.
He was gifted with many talents and was always eager to help anyone do anything. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, nipshidding and throwing a left punch. Those that knew him best know he was usually always right and always there for a good time. Strong willed to the end, but sadly now will never be able to shoot his age.
Loving survivors include wife Jane and son Asa Gray; sisters, Debbie (Dave) Robert and Amy O'Howell; in-laws, Pete and Betty Hirtz; brothers-in-law, Paul Hirtz, John (Mary) Beckett; aunt, Joyce Deimund; nephews, Tyler (Heather) Beckett, Mike (Jamie) and Mark Hirtz; great-nephews, Stetson Beckett, Braden and Carson Hirtz. Other survivors include brother, Brian Abbott; sister, Carolyn Neal; and nieces, Aubrey Neal Carye Moses.
Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Nancy and brother in law Randy Sides.
He will be remembered, loved and deeply missed by so many.
Due to the current pandemic there will be no services. A celebration of his life will be planned when friends and family can safely gather to celebrate the life of a wonderful man.
