Patsy Ann Ward, 85, of Scott City passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Dec. 23, 1932, in Wardell, Missouri to Harry and Mabel Mathis. On Jan. 19, 1952, she married Lawrence Ward Jr. and this marriage sustained them for more than 66 years.
She graduated from Wardell High School in 1950.
Patsy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Scott City. She taught Sunday school for many years and served as director of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). She was employed for a number of years at Wetterau Food before being disabled.
She loved her grandchildren and great--grandchildren and was always interested in their activities.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Lawrence; children, Lynn (Patty) Ward of Scott City and Diane (Tom) Fischer of O'Fallon, Missouri; a son, Glenn Ward, preceded her in death. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lucas Ward of Chicago, Gretchen (Travis) Dirnberger of Scott City, Seth (Anna) Ward of Cape Girardeau, Tyler (Paige) Ward of Birmingham, Alabama, Kristin (Travis) Zessinger of Wentzville, Missouri, Kaitlin (Ryan) Lutes of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Michael Fischer of O'Fallon. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, Bennet, Brooklyn, Brynlee, Dexter, Maggie, Aubrey and Lucille; and a sister, Carol (Ross) Pyatt of Searcy, Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
She will sadly be missed by her family and many close friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
