MOUNDS, Ill. -- Patsy L. Julen Bankson, 80, of Mounds passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 15, 1934, in Ullin, Illinois, daughter of George and Stella Jameson Julen.
Pat was a member of Caledonia Community Church in Olmsted, Illinois, and served on the Academy School Board of the church. She and her husband, George, were volunteers with Pulaski County Fair many years, and were the 2011 grand marshals of the fair parade.
She and George owned and operated a family restaurant in Pulaski, Illinois, many years.
Pat was preceded in death by her father; mother; stepfather, Perry Severs; a son, George A. Bankson; two brothers, William Dean Julen and Donnie Julen; and a sister, Marilyn Rice.
Survivors include her husband, George A. Bankson of Mounds; a daughter, Patty Kendrick of Marion, Illinois; a son, James "Dino" (Kim) Bankson of Olive Branch, Illinois; eight sisters, Ada (Fred) Dunsworth of Evansville, Indiana, Mickie (Jack) Hargis of Chester, Illinois, Dianna (Bodie) Bodenschatz of Jackson, Janie Shumaker of Chenoa, Illinois, Teena (Dan) Kraatz of Dongola, Illinois, Kathy (Jerry) Thurston of Pulaski, Mae (the Rev. Bill) Littrell of Jonesboro, Illinois, and Linda Heern of Johnston City, Illinois.
Also six brothers, Jimmy (Joy) Severs of Memphis, Tennessee, Perry "Al" (Gerrie Sue) Severs of Christopher, Illinois, Doug (Kathy) Severs of Ullin, Joe (Teresa) Severs of Chester, Bobby (Debbie) Severs of Mounds, and Gary (Wanie) Severs of Villa Ridge, Illinois; five grandchildren, Angela Belcher, Cindy Hermetz, Billy and Clint Kendrick, and Carrie Newton; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at Caledonia Church.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with Dean Hamilton and the Rev. John Windings officiating. Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery east of Pulaski.
Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements.
