Patricia Ann Kimpler Zimmer, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011. She was born Dec. 29, 1926, at Sandoval, Ill., daughter of the late Alice and Peter Kimp-ler. Patricia was married to Jerome B. Zimmer on Jan. 10, 1948. He preceded her in death in 2003...

Patricia Ann Kimpler Zimmer, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011.

She was born Dec. 29, 1926, at Sandoval, Ill., daughter of the late Alice and Peter Kimpler. Patricia was married to Jerome B. Zimmer on Jan. 10, 1948. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Patricia graduated from the school of nursing at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau. Patricia's life was characterized by her wonderful spirit, sacrifice and love for family and friends, and beautiful smile.

Survivors include six sons, Jerry (Mary), Tom, David (Melinda), Don (Toni), James (Lori) and John (Lisa), all of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anita Stasik of Merritt Island, Fla., Jane Lemmon of La Jolla, Calif.; and a brother, Bill Kimpler of Granite City, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Zimmer; and two sisters, Vivian Barnet and Marian Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today with a prayer service at 6:45, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

The memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
