Patricia "Pat" Bertrand Gross, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 12, 1928, daughter of Charles and Thelma Henson Bertrand Jr. She married A.V. Gross at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fornfelt on Dec. 28, 1948. He preceded her in death July 31, 2010, after 62 years of marriage.
Pat was a graduate of Fornfelt High School in Scott City.
Pat worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company in Belleville, Illinois, and retired after 28 years as credit manager. She and A.V. lived in Belleville for 38 years after moving from Cape Girardeau.
She belonged to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary 63 and VFW Auxiliary 3838 in Cape Girardeau. She volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center in the gift shop and loved the time spent there. She loved to dance, was an avid reader, loved flowers and working in her yard. She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by her three sons, Keith Gross of Oakville, Missouri; Kevin (Mary) Gross of Cape Girardeau; and Kent (Dana) Gross of West Frankfort, Illinois; grandchildren, Brett (Karie) Gross of Peoria, Illinois; Scott (Laura) of Waterloo, Illinois; and Alex (Samantha) Gross of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Tripp, Aden, Theo, Noelle, Carter, Layla, Nyla, Link and Pieper; brother, Charles (Lisa) Bertrand of Cape Girardeau; sister, Charlene Vandeven of Cape Girardeau; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.V.; sister, Lawanna Eifert; daughter-in-law, Denise Gross; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Vandeven and Robert Steck.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorials may be given the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
