Patricia Anne Chapman, 75, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born March 17, 1929, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of Francis and Hilda Foos Lynch.
Patricia graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in education. She also received two masters degrees, one in English as a second language from Southeast and one in linguistics from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
She taught elementary school six years in University City, Mo., and then taught more than 30 years in the English Department at Southeast. She was involved in the initiation of the English as a second language program. She participated in multiple international student organizations throughout her career.
Patricia devoted her personal life to caring for her family. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, cooking and reading. She was of the Catholic belief.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Albertina of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a son, Christopher P. Rudy-Chapman of Columbus, Ind.; her mother, Hilda Medcalf of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Jeremiah Medcalf of Linn Creek, Mo.; and a granddaughter, Emily Anne Albertina of Glen Carbon.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derek Swanson officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
