TAMMS, Ill. -- Pat Carter Burkepile, 73, of Tamms died at 9 a.m. Sunday at her daughter's home in Olive Branch, Illinois.

She was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Hazel May Carter. She married Lee Burkepile in 1987, and he preceded her in death in 1997.

Pat was a retired riverboat cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Bigham of Olive Branch and Stacy Carter of Cairo, Illinois; two sons, Timmy Slapinski of Cairo and Bobby Johnson of Olive Branch; her mother, Hazel Carter of Elco, Illinois; a brother, Benny Carter of Elco; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Kay Carter of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Michael Brown, Ricky Brown, Samantha Rodgers, James Dean Johnson, Dena Johnson and Amanda Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley, Autumn, Kiara, Beau, Bella, Luke, Waylon, Aubreigh and Liam; a nephew, Benjamin; and a niece, Deanna.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Burkepile; father, Frank Carter; a son, Ricky Lynn Johnson; a grandson, Bobby Johnson; a sister, Betty Carter; and both sets of grandparents, George and Myrtle Carter and Cecil and Willa May.

Visitation for Pat Burkepile will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery.
