SIKESTON -- Paris R. Capron, 93, of Sikeston died Monday, July 7, 1997, at Clearview Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 21, 1904, in Randolph County, son of Roland A. and Gertrude Pierce Capron. He and Edith M. Kaufman were married Sept. 4, 1926, in Union City, Ind.

Capron lived in Anderson, Ind., 50 years before moving to Sikeston. He received a master's degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., in 1948, and received a doctorate in education in the early 1950s.

He was a teacher and administrator in Ohio and Indiana public schools 46 years. He was principal at Franklin Elementary School in Anderson when he retired in 1971.

Capron was inducted into Phi Delta Kappa in 1948 and held various offices throughout the years. He was a member of Tanner Street Church of God in Sikeston.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Lopp of Sikeston; a sister, Arva Bailey of Winchester, Ind.; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a son, three daughters, a brother, and a sister.

Friends may call at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Home in Anderson from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Park Place Church of God in Anderson. Burial will be in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
