JACKSON -- Otto Christian Peetz, 77, of Jackson died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Tilsit, the son of Ferdinand and Amelia Burgfeld Peetz. On June 7, 1946, he married Lawana Farrow, who preceded him in death on June 14, 1989.
Peetz was baptized and confirmed at St. James United Church of Christ near Tilsit, where he was a lifelong active member, served as Sunday school superintendent and church council president for a number of years and served on the cemetery committee. He served on the United Retreat Center Board and was a member of the American Legion Post 158.
Peetz did volunteer work at Jackson Senior Citizen Nutrition Center. He worked for various companies in the area, including Heuer & Son Implement in Cape Girardeau, Kasten Masonry in Jackson and Potashnick Construction in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Peetz of Melbourne, Fla.; one daughter, Loida Quatmann of Jackson; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, where an American Legion Honor Guard service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. James United Church of Christ near Tilsit with the Rev. James Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
