Otelia Chapman, 97, of Florence, S.C., (affectionately known to friends and family as "Tillie") died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, in Florence.
She was born June 4, 1914, in Stoddard County, Mo., daughter of Norman Jasper and Ethel Siler Coburn. She was a graduate of Bloomfield, Mo., High School. She and Evert Leon Chapman were married Nov. 22, 1932.
Otelia and her husband were longtime residents of Bloomfield and Sikeston, Mo. She became a resident of Florence in 2003, and lived the last two years of her life at the Presbyterian Home of Florence.
Survivors include two sons, Edgar L. Chapman of East Peoria, Ill., Richard N. Chapman (Marilyn) of Florence; three grandsons, Benjamin P. Chapman of Rochester, N.Y., Terrence L. Chapman (Kathy-Ann) of Austin, Texas, and R. Keith Chapman (Radiance) of Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was preceded by her husband.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A committal service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of local arrangements.
