Oscar "Buster" Kasten, 95, formerly of Jackson and Altenburg, Mo., fell asleep in Jesus Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 31, 1908, in Pocahontas, son of August and Caroline Engelhart Kasten. He and Irma Leimer were married May 7, 1933.

Mr. Kasten was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. His faith in the Lord Jesus was very important to him.

Mr. Kasten owned and operated Kasten Chevrolet in Altenburg and Frohna, Mo., 40 years, and was a charter member of the Altenburg Lions Club.

He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend of many.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Ronald Kasten and wife Barbara of Merritt Island, Fla.; a brother, the Rev. Edward Kasten of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Melva Lichtenegger of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren, Michael Kasten and wife Becky of Champaign, Ill., Julie Johnston and husband Derek of Oak Ridge, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Isaac, August, Sadie and Ella Kasten of Champaign, Brett Johnston of Oak Ridge, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Kasten; a brother, and two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson and the Rev. Walter Fehrmann officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Paul Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
