Oscar Burette "Cookie" Cook, 93, of 717 N. Sprigg St. died Monday May 26, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center. He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Brownwood, the son of Eugene Jefferson and Mary Fife Cook. Oscar Burette "Cookie" Cook, 93, of 717 N. Sprigg St. died Monday May 26, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Brownwood, the son of Eugene Jefferson and Mary Fife Cook. On Aug. 8, 1923, he married Mamie E. Zimmerman.

He worked for Federal Material Co. in Cape Girardeau from 1926 to 1970. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 513.

He belonged to the Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and once served as deacon and treasurer of Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Margarite Crites of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Oma Stone of Peoria, Ill., and Dora Lee Stats of St. Louis; a grandson, and a great-great-grandson.

Two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Mt. Auburn Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Anderson and the Rev. S.S. Brown officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
