PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Orville L. Schaefer, 86, of Perryville died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at his home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Uniontown, Missouri, son of Herman Benjamin and T. Onita Popp Schaefer. He and Laverne Steffens were married Aug. 20, 1955. She survives in Perryville.
He was owner/operator of Schaefer Water Centers. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Perryville High School class of 1949 and from University of Missouri--Rolla in 1958. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Other survivors include four sons and one daughter, Stephen (Nancy) Schaefer of Olga, Washington, Michael (Andrea) Schaefer of French Village, Missouri, Thomas (JoAnn) Schaefer of Wentzville, Missouri, Carol (Lynn) Winter of Uniontown and Robert Schaefer of Montello, Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dawn; one sister, Irene Hagerty; and one great-grandson, David Schaefer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
He then will be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for service at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Family and Children's Services, Saxony Lutheran High School or Serenity Hospice.
