SIKESTON -- Orville Ray Payne, 70, of Winnfield, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born March 20, 1927, in Corning, Ark., son of John Wesley and Lola Madlean Flanigan Payne. He married Evelyn Howard.
Payne was self-employed in painting automobiles. He was formerly of Sikeston.
Survivors include four sons, Ray and Timmy Payne of Sikeston, Orville Payne of Bloomfield, Randy Payne of Chaffee; a daughter, Loretta Holland of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two brothers, Julius Payne of East Prairie, Jimmy Payne of Sikeston; four sisters, Lorean Evans of Sikeston, Vida Turley of East Prairie, Velma Price of Ypsilanti, Louise Stephens of Boonville; a friend, Virginia Rowe of Winnfield; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a grandson, and a brother.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
