JACKSON -- Orval R. "Orv" Thorne, 54, of Jackson died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at his home.
He was born June 3, 1943, in Flint, Mich., son of Orval C. and Dorothy L. Evans Thorne. He and Diane Hoffman were married July 27, 1974, in Jackson.
Thorne moved to Jackson in 1969 from Clio, Mich., and had been in the food and restaurant business in Cape Girardeau and Jackson.
He owned and operated the Pancake House in Cape Girardeau 15 years, selling it and Orv's Catering Service in 1996. He also operated a concesesion stand at SEMO District Fair many years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Thorne of Paris, Tenn., Garrett Thorne of Jackson; three daughters, Laci Thorne of Jackson, Rhonda Arnold of Paris, Tenn., Tonya Beard of Big Sandy, Tenn.; a stepson, Butch Curtaindale of Nashville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Arvin of Paris, Tenn.; his mother of Jackson; a brother, Jerry Thorne of Jackson; a sister, Louise Hammel of Cunningham, Ky.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
