ANNA, Ill. -- Opal Fern Penland, 89, of Anna died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 27, 1917, in Marion, Ill., daughter of Logan H. and Nancy Elizabeth Burns Basinger. She and Paul Penland were married Oct. 22, 1938, in Jackson.
Penland was a member of First Baptist Church in Anna, and was active in Sunday school and mission organizations.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Paula Cochran of Clarksville, Tenn.; a son, Charles "Chuck" Penland of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and nine brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Darren Casper and Tony Foeller officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
