Opal M. Grimes, 79, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in De Soto, Mo., daughter of Fred Joseph and Stacy Cathryn Woolford Pierce.
She and Maxey L. Grimes were married Oct. 28, 1945, at St. Louis. He died May 2, 2004.
She worked in the cosmetics department at Walgreens in St. Louis for 40 years and moved to Cape Girardeau in 1984. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include a brother, Clarence Pierce of Gilliam, Mo.; two sisters, Ruth Keirn of Hickory, N.C., and Pearl Tate of Anderson, Ind.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Ill.
