PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Opal Ilene Drum, 68, of Perryville died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Cline Oakland and Fredia Lou Smith Welker. She and John Francis Drum Jr. were married Oct. 6, 1965, at the Pentecostal Church in Jackson.
Opal graduated from Jackson High School. She worked for the Rite Point Pen Co. in St. Louis for several years. After the children were born, she retired from her job with the pen company to raise her two children.
She is survived by her husband, John of Perryville; a son, William Paul (Taylor Vinson) Drum of Perryville; a daughter, Shelly Nicole Drum of Overland Park, Kansas; a brother, Paul Welker; and a sister, Virginia Welker, both of Millersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry Welker.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home-Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery near Millersville.
