VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Opal B. Mathis, 74, of Villa Ridge, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born April 22, 1919, in Mayfield, Ky., daughter of Louis and Nannie Hunter Rushing. She married James C. Mathis, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Mathis of Villa Ridge, LaVerne Johnson of Mound City; a brother, Raymond Rushing of Baldwin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkett Funeral Chapel in Mound City. The Rev. Larry L. Potts will officiate, with burial in Wingo Cemetery in Wingo, Ky.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
