Opal F. Goslee, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Ozark Medical Center in West Plains.
She was born in Swinton, daughter of John William and Louia Almer Graham Proffer. She and Harold H. Austin were married in Cape Girardeau in 1929. He died in July 1965.
She married John H. Goslee in July 1969 in Hot Springs, Ark. He died in 1986. She then married Horace L. Gill in Hot Springs in 1988.
Goslee was a former member of First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau and Hot Springs. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
She had lived in Thayer for the past 10 years, moving from Hot Springs where she had lived for 20 years.
She owned and operated the Merle Norman Studio in Cape Girardeau. She also owned and operated beauty and cosmetologist shops in Cape Girardeau and Hot Springs, before retiring 25 years ago. She also had been a Justice of the Peace in Hot Springs.
Survivors include her husband of Thayer; two daughters, Lana Cotner of Baltimore, Md., and Tana Spiekermann of St. Louis; a brother, Luther Proffer of Brighton, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be Wednesday at noon, with the Rev. Philip Curran officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
