FROHNA, Mo. -- Omar T. Steffens, 73, of Frohna died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 2, 1927, at Farrar, Mo., son of Claus and Frieda Koenig Steffens. He and Mabel L. Petzoldt were married Feb. 27, 1954...

FROHNA, Mo. -- Omar T. Steffens, 73, of Frohna died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 2, 1927, at Farrar, Mo., son of Claus and Frieda Koenig Steffens. He and Mabel L. Petzoldt were married Feb. 27, 1954.

Steffens was a carpenter. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, its choir and Men's Club, finance committee, and a trustee. He was a member of American Legion Post 133.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Duaine Steffens of Jackson, Mo., Kevin Steffens of Frohna, Rodney Steffens of Altenburg, Mo.; three brothers, Herbert Steffens of St. Louis, Donald and Allyn Steffens of Perryville, Mo.; five sisters, Leonora Winter of Frohna, Florence Sweeney of Lemay, Mo., Ellen Lewis of St. Louis, Gloria Mueller of Farrar, Georgia Koehler of Tennessee; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, and a brother.

Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg from 4-9 p.m. today, and Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 a.m. The American Legion wake will be at 7 tonight.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Wayne Palmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
