STURDIVANT -- Omar A. Shipley, 82, of Sturdivant died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 26, 1914, at St. Elmo, Ill., son of Wesley and Millie Kelley Shipley. He first married Edith Crum March 5, 1942. She died Dec. 22, 1981. STURDIVANT -- Omar A. Shipley, 82, of Sturdivant died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 26, 1914, at St. Elmo, Ill., son of Wesley and Millie Kelley Shipley. He first married Edith Crum March 5, 1942. She died Dec. 22, 1981. He later married Fleda Brown Sept. 29, 1992, in Randolph, Vt.

Shipley retired from Missouri State Division of Unemployment Security, and later was a fur trapper. He also was author of two books. He was a member of National Trappers Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jim Shipley of Zalma, Omar Shipley of Biloxi, Miss.; two daughters, Linda Tipton of Marble Hill, Kimala Keck of Bristol, Vt.; three stepsons, John Brown of East Randolph, Vt., Joseph Brown of Derby, Vt., Hank Brown of Nashville, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Noma Getz of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Naomi Waters of Glens Falls, N.Y., Debra Brown of Quincy, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
