Ollie Joan Kaufman, 74, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at her home.

She was born Feb. 10, 1942, to Marshall William and Floy Lucille Suhr Moore.

She graduated from Jackson High School in 1960 and married Wiley Louis Kaufman on Nov. 23, 1960.

She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in business education in 1990 magna cum laude and received her master's degree in business education in 2000 with Academic Distinction.

Joan taught business classes at Metro Business College for 21 years, retiring in 2012. Her motto while teaching: "Whatever you are doing, be sure to do it well. Therefore, there will be no room for regrets."

Sister Joan Kaufman was an incredible mother and a wonderful Grammy to her grandchildren, but most of all she was a child of the King. She loved and served Jesus Christ faithfully for 58 years. She was a woman of great faith. One of her favorite scriptures was James 1:6, "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed." In 58 years she never wavered or lost faith. She always stood firm in her beliefs. Sister Joan supported her husband pastoring churches in Illmo; Goreville, Illinois; Medora, Indiana; and Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, currently serving as assistant pastor's wife, organ player, secretary and Bible Quiz coach at The Apostolic Promise Church. She also taught Ladies Bible Studies and wrote several books about her walk with the Lord.
