CAIRO, Ill. — Olivia I. Ruiz, 78, of Cairo died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Daystar Care Center.
She was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Las Tunas, Cuba. She was married to Joseph E. Ruiz.
Ruiz was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and served on the parish council, and was a member of Daughters of Isabella. She had worked at Burkart Foam Plant in Cairo.
Survivors include her husband; two stepsons, Joe Ruiz of Cairo, Steve Ruiz of Beards­town, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Linda Kolb of Mount Vernon, Ill.; two sisters, Rosalia Rimeres and Elsa Rimeres of Las Tunas; seven stepgrandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, with Monsignor Bill McGhee as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill.
