SIKESTON -- Oliver Zook, 83, of Sikeston died Monday, May 5, 1997, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Jan. 3, 1914, in East Prairie, son of Harry and Effie Myrtle Roach Zook. He and Esther Duncan were married Dec. 8, 1961, at Benton.

Zook was a house painter, and member of First Oneness Pentecostal Church in Morehouse. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Oliver Zook and Paul Martin of Sikeston, Forest Zook of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Russell of Cape Girardeau, Marlene Tidwell of Sikeston; a sister, Birdie Williams of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Vent officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
