Oliver Charles "Sonny" Kinder, 50, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 1997, in Dallas, Texas.
He was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, son of Oliver and Lucille Sides Kinder. He married Lydia Johnson, divorced and then married Aretta Graham in 1994. She survives him.
He attended Jackson public schools from 1953 to 1965, then moved to Cape Girardeau before relocating to Dallas. He worked as a truck driver and cook.
He is survived by four sons, Keith, William and Kevin Kinder, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Charles Kinder of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Francis Kinder of Cleveland and Rhonda Shae of Cape Girardeau; five brothers, James Kinder of Alton, Ill., William Kinder of Dallas, Ronald Kinder of Oceanside, Calif., Sherman Kinder of Festus and Michael Kinder of Suitland, Md.; seven sisters, Shirley Parson and Dora Kinder, both of Edwardsville, Ill., Mary Lattin and Christina Terry, both of Irving, Texas, Vivian Jones of Nashville, Tenn., Ethel Mosley of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Olive White of Riverside, Texas; and grandchildren.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Graveside rites will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
