MARBLE HILL -- Oliver Kirkpatrick, 88, of Marble Hill died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 21, 1910, at Marble Hill, son of Ollie Ray and Ida Mae McPherson Kirkpatrick. He and Thelma Baker were married March 1, 1932, at Fredericktown.
Kirkpatrick was a lifelong resident of Bollinger County, and had lived at Marble Hill more than 30 years.
He taught school in Bollinger County, built and operated a Phillips 66 Station, operated a garage, owned and operated a service station and grocery in Glen Allen 14 years, and then drove a bus for Woodland Schools until retiring. He was a member of Marble Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Oliver Kirkpatrick of Lake St. Louis; a daughter, Betty Dowd of St. Charles; a sister, Mae Kirkpatrick of Delta, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery.
