OLIVE R. MCCARTY CARR

Mrs. Olive Rowena McCarty Carr, age 89, of Auxvasse, passed away Monday, May 24, 1999, at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo.

She was born January 14, 1910, in Spring Valley, Ohio, a daughter of John Parks McCarty and Lela Rowena Scott McCarty. They moved to Oran, Mo. in 1913 and she attended Oran School and went to Cape Girardeau Business College in Cape Girardeau, Mo. and worked for her father, John P. McCarty Building Material and Coal Company until her marriage to Herbert Hadley Carr on August 4, 1937. She and her husband bought a farm near Delta, Mo. and lived there until they moved to their farm in Auxvasse, Mo. in 1948.

Survivors include, Jane Irene Carr Griffith and her husband, Glenn of Kingdom City, Mo., and Ralph Herbert Carr and his wife, Charlene of Auxvasse, Mo.; five grandchildren, Dennis and Glenda Griffith Hines, W.C. and Annette Griffith Lamberson, Lee and Carrie Carr Gorday, Cindy Carr and Brad and Angel Carr; eight great-grandchildren; Nathan Lamberson, Jonathan, Laura and Kent Gorday; Jessica, Jerrod and Cody Riggins and Zachery Carr. One sister, Eudora McCarty Graviett of Oran, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Honora Jane McCarty and Grace McCallister, three step-sisters; Mary Ellen Green, Ruth McCarty and Sarah Swanagan.

Services were Thurs., May 27, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Mo. with Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial was at Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brad Carr, Roland Stone, Dennis Hines, Lee Gorday, Tom Maupin, and Bill Lamberson.
